ABOUT
Our story began several years ago under a different name: Carolina Cavaliers. Our 501(c)3 non-profit organization was founded in 2009 by then college junior, Brittany Hoisington. At the time, there was a need for affordable travel basketball that promoted strong fundamental mastery at a highly competitive level. Starting with two girls teams in 2009, the Cavaliers then added a boys program in 2010 and had three boys teams and three girls teams for its second season. For eleven seasons, we proudly wore teal and black and represented our organization under the Carolina Cavaliers banner. Along the way, it became clear that the Cavs was more than just a team and what we were doing was more than a game. What we had created had truly become BIGGER than basketball.
While the COVID-19 pandemic altered our plans for the 2020 season, we took the time to embrace the opportunity for change. It was clear that it was time to make sure that our mission and values aligned with our branding and messaging. The black and teal were replaced with maroon and gold to pay homage to the College of Charleston, Brittany's alma mater where the concept of our organization was born and to better represent our location in the beautiful city of Charleston, SC and its surrounding areas. The slogan we had employed for several years, "It's BIGGER than basketball", was shortened to "Bigger than Basketball" to unify our message and convey our core belief that what we do here is more than basketball. It's family, it's life skills, it's character, it's molding athletes to be successful on and off the court. We look forward to many more years of BTB basketball and the opportunity to impact the lives of student athletes in the Charleston area.
